I'm Running 5/3/1 FOREVER!
Another Day
Here I am, hung over with sore lungs from chain smoking my $7 a pack cigarettes and a bloated body from over-eating garbage. This has been my life for most of the past year and almost every day since December. To top it all off, I stopped doing the one thing in my life that got me through all the previous rough times of the past 10+ years, Lifting. Now I could come up with plenty of excuses as to why it’s ok for me to do this, 2020 was the worst year of my life after all. I know I’m not the only one who can say that, so I’m not going to rattle off a list of reasons why when I know others have had it much worse. Besides, that’s not why I am here, I’m here to make a change.
Progress=Happiness
Tony Robbins says it and I believe it to be true. I just needed to find something to dedicate myself to that allows me to progress. Thankfully I have a copy Jim Wendler’s 5/3/1 Forever, which happens to contain around 50 variations of his 5/3/1 program. I was browsing through the book one day, trying to decide on a program to run when it hit me, why not run all the programs? I would be better physically and mentally by committing to this so that’s what I will do, run every variation of 5/3/1 there is! Now this obviously isn’t a short term goal, with each program taking around 12 week to complete we are talking about spending over a decade of my training life on this goal. This will require exactly what I need in my life; discipline, will, commitment and progress.
Sharing Is Caring
I also am committing to sharing this journey with anyone who this may interest by posting on this blog and weekly video updates on Youtube. Hopefully it will inspire others who are in the same position as I am now, or at least give you a chuckle at watching my chubby butt struggle with 3 rep pull ups. So join me if you will on this journey and let’s see where we end up!
